What does it look like to live a fruitful life in London?
In a city that constantly tells us to grow bigger, move faster, achieve more, and make an impact, Jesus presents us with a very different picture of fruitfulness.
In this sermon, we explore the upside-down way of the Kingdom of God through the imagery of a seed. A fruitful life is not necessarily a loud, impressive, or celebrated life. Instead, Jesus invites us to embrace smallness, patience, and dying to ourselves.
Smallness — The Kingdom of God often begins in ways that seem insignificant. Faithfulness in our families, workplaces, friendships, churches, and everyday responsibilities may feel small, but God sees what others don't.
Patience — Like a farmer waiting for a harvest, we are called to trust God over the long term rather than constantly looking for the next breakthrough. Faith and patience belong together.
Dying to ourselves — Jesus teaches that a seed must fall into the ground and die before it can bear much fruit. A fruitful life comes as we surrender our ambitions, plans, and desires to God and pray, "Not my will, but yours be done."
Ultimately, the invitation is simple: keep your eyes on Jesus. He lived a small, patient, faithful life, surrendered himself to the Father, and through his death and resurrection a harvest continues to grow across the world.
